Gonzaga vs Washington
When: 12:00 PM ET, Wednesday, November 25, 2015
Where: Imperial Arena at Atlantis Resort, Nassau

Washington and Gonzaga chose to end their bitter feud with one another last summer by agreeing to a four-year, home-and-home series starting next season. In a bit of an irony, the Huskies and 11th ranked Bulldogs will get a bit of a head start on the next chapter of the in-state rivalry outside the continental United States on Wednesday when they meet in a first-round game in the Battle 4 Atlantis at Paradise Island, Bahamas.

The schools reportedly broke off the series, which dates back to 1910 and was played on an annual basis from 1997-2006, after animosity started to grow between Gonzaga coach Mark Few and Washington Lorenzo Romar over player recruitment. Both teams enter this contest undefeated and with a full head of steam as the Bulldogs have won their two games by an average of 42 points while the Huskies have topped the century mark in consecutive games for the first time since 2010-11 after defeating Texas 77-71 in China to open the season. Both teams already have a common opponent in Mount St. Mary’s, which lost 100-67 in Washington on Thursday before falling 101-56 in Spokane two days later. The Huskies lead the series 29-14, but the Bulldogs won eight of the nine meetings before the rivalry went dormant.
TV: Noon ET, ESPN2

ABOUT GONZAGA (2-0): The Bulldogs outscored the Mountaineers 60-27 in the second half on Saturday, knocking down 10 of their 11 3-pointers following the break while committing only two of their 14 turnovers over the final 19 minutes after solving Mount St. Mary’s pressure defense. “Hopefully, there was a good lesson tonight in moving on to the next play," Few told The Spokesman-Review. "Some of the guys young to the program struggle with that – they have a tendency to dwell and feel sorry for themselves. You just can’t; got to move on,” In addition to making life difficult in the paint with three regulars that stand at least 6-10, Gonzaga is holding opponents to 15.8 percent beyond the arc.
ABOUT WASHINGTON (3-0): Despite not having anyone on the roster taller than 6-9, the Huskies are averaging a NCAA-high 57.3 rebounds after posting at least 60 in each of their first two games. Two of Washington’s top four rebounding efforts (62 versus Texas, 60 against Mount St. Mary’s) in 14 years under Romar have occurred this season. The Huskies’ highly-touted freshman class has delivered on its promise in the early going; forward Marquese Chriss (18.7 points, six rebounds) erupted for 29 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday versus Mount St. Mary’s while guard Dejounte Murray (13.7, eight rebounds) poured in 22 points in Saturday’s rout of previously unbeaten Penn.

1. The winner of this game will face either Texas or Texas A&M in the semifinals while the loser face the loser of the Longhorns and Aggies.
2. Gonzaga has outrebounded its opponents 102-56 and outscored them 94-56 in the paint.
3. Washington has ambushed its last two foes, jumping out to 17-0 lead in the first 4 ½ minutes against Mount St. Mary’s and a 16-0 edge in less than four minutes against the Quakers.

PREDICTION: Gonzaga 92, Washington 85
